The ¦l±skie voivodship lies in the southern part of Poland, bordering the Republic of Slovakia and the Czech republic in the south, the Opolskie voivodship in the west, the Łódzkie voivodshipin the north and the Małopolskie and ¦więtokrzyskie voivodship in the east.
Area and population
The area of 12.300 km2 is inhabiet by nearly 5 million people. As regards the area, it is the 14th voivodship, and as regards the population, it is the second voivodship in Poland.
Crest and flag
The crest of the voivodship is a golden eagle an a blue crest shield. The flag is blue, golden and blue.
Capital and administrative division
The capital city is katowice. The voivodship is divided into 19 city poviats and 17 land poviats, as well as 167 gminas, 69 cities and 1518 villages.
